MICHIGAN FOOTBALL: BY THE NUMBERS

This has been such a record-breaking season for Michigan Football. It's hard to keep up with all of the  statistics and historical references to quantify just how bad the Wolverines have been thus far. And there's still half a season to go!

We thought it might be handy to compile some of the top achievements of the 2014 season for the Brady Bunch, right here in one place where you can find it easily.

But first, a key data-point that summarizes just how bad UM has played so far this year. We all know they have only two wins, and we all know the teams they beat aren't very good. How bad are they? Appalachian State and Miami of Ohio have each won a single game so far, meaning the record of the teams Michigan beat is 2-9.

Using the "Sagarin" rankings, we can see the four teams that UM lost to rank from #9 to #74. The teams that lost to the Wolverines are ranked #158 and #159 by Sagarin, and Michigan is ranked right between those two groups at #80. Projecting the current Sagarin rankings onto the remaining schedule for UM suggests that Michigan will finish this season with a record of 2-10.

Some other milestones:

Starting Conference Play 0-2: First time since 1967
Three Losses in September:  First time ever

Last Conference Title:  2004
Last time Michigan beat Penn State:  2007

Record of 17-15 during last 2-1/2 seasons
Record of 4-10 over last 14 games
Record of 1-6 in last 7 conference games
Record of 3-6 in last 9 Bowl Games*

*prior to those nine bowl games, UM was 17-17 overall in bowl games
