So sorry to see David Brandon leaving the University of Michigan. He made such a strong impact on so many people. He really knew how to rake in the cash. And most importantly, he is a "Michigan Man".
The glory days of UM are fading fast, as it is unclear if the non-Michigan-Man President Schlissel can find another "Michigan Man" to replace Brandon. Football Coach Brady Hoke may be the last remaining disciple of Bo Shembechler in the UM Athletic Department. (Many would point out that Hoke never played for Coach Glenn, nor did he attend the University of Michigan. But that's the same as it was for "Saint Bo", and he was the King of all "Michigan Men".)
Most of the coaches at Michigan are not "Michigan Men", so it's important to keep Brady Hoke on staff to carry the torch that leads the way. Perhaps Schlissel heard that Brandon was trying to fire Hoke, and that's why Brandon was shown the door.
In any case, a sad day for Michigan, as another "Michigan Man" bites the dust.
