JIM HARBAUGH & DON TRUMP: TWO PATHETIC PEAS FROM THE SAME PATHETIC POD

SpartanMan82 says "thanks" to those who have said farewell to him on this web site. But he has another observation to make:

-----

Watching the Jim Harbaugh rant after losing to Ohio State pointed out the similarities between the Michigan football coach and the presumed-president-elect, Don-the-Con Trump. You could transpose the two in many situations and get the same outcome.

How does Harbaugh resemble Trump? Let me count the ways:

Both "Daddy's Boys" - They were both groomed by their fathers to take over the family business. In the case of trUMp, it was literally, the family business. For Harbaugh, it was the family profession. They were expected to be like their Daddy was, and they have followed through on that.
Both like to mouth off - Neither the chUMp nor the trUMp can avoid jaw-jacking opportunities, especially if the lip-flapping picks on others. You will not hear these guys waxing philosophically on the issues facing Americans, or spiritual questions, or solutions to vexing questions. These dudes like to pick on others, plain and simple. If it's not Muslims, it's Referees.
Both see themselves as the center of the known universe - The Orange chUMp thinks that no rules apply to him, no matter how many of his predecessors had to follow them. The Blue chUMp thinks that no rules apply to him or his school, no matter how many other coaches and schools have had to follow them.
Both enjoy socializing with teenage girls - Harbaugh likes to send notes to high school girls, ostensibly as a recruiting tool. Trump likes to rape teenage girls, just because he can.
Both are very good at what they do - Harbaugh is a great football coach. Trump is a fantastically gifted LIAR.

For as many commonalities as these failed-abortions share, there is one striking difference, and the gap between the two in this dimension is enormous:

Jim Harbaugh is a very intelligent person.
Boyishly immature, he still commands a powerful intellect.

Donald Trump has the intelligence of a ground squirrel.
He communicates on a fourth-grade level, and
his command of any subject is limited to
whatever he heard in the last ten seconds.

Trump repeats himself uncontrollably, often stating
the same thing three times (or more) in less than a minute.
He is the anti-intellectual, verbally pissing on
the academic work of thousands on a regular basis,
merely on the grounds that any challenging body of
academic information is way over his puny head.

So yes, they are basically the "same person", with the exception that Herr Gropenfuhrer has walnuts for brains. Given a chance, each of these chUMps will work ceaselessly to makeover the world in their own image, forcing everybody in their domain to comply with their selfish will.

In the case of Harbaugh, no big risk, it's only Michigan Football. In the case of Doctor Drumpf, it's a huge risk to the entire world, and every American must stand ready to fight against this Monster at every opportunity.

HAIL TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN FOR FIGHTING AGAINST TRUMPISM

SpartanMan82 wants to communicate to the Michigan State fan-base as he works against the forces of evil that are propelling Donald Trump to attack Americans. He offers this comment:

-----

The University of Michigan has a few bad apples in their fan-base, and we have labeled them as "chUMps". However, upon examination, the vast majority of "chUMps" are actually supporters of the Trumps. Very few arrogant, loud-mouthed, abrasive, delusional, and self-promoting UM fans - - - those we call "chUMps" - - - are NOT Trumpists. The two groups overlap nearly 100%. Don't believe me? Just ask.

Next time you see an idiotic "chUMp" acting out in public, just ask them, "Excuse me, Mister Chump, did you vote for Trump?" While the chUMp reference may confuse them (they are easily confused), they will quickly shout out "Go Trump" or some similar epithet.

With this in mind, we should congratulate the Michigan student body and university community for standing up against Donald Trump at literally the first opportunity. Public protests against the Trumpists have spanned our country, from coast to coast, and the Ann Arbor area has stepped up to meet the challenge. There have been street marches in Ann Arbor that began within 48 hours of Election Day:

This picture shows how patriotic the University of Michigan student body is, as they responded immediately to our national crisis:

THIS PICTURE MAKES ME WANT TO SAY "GO BLUE"

The Wikipedia web site has compiled a comprehensive list of protests against Trump, dating back to last year. Since Election Night, Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan are well represented.

KEY POINT:  As much as we have railed against "chUMps" as part of our college sports rivalry, the Wolverines depicted above, in words and pictures, are most definitely NOT CHUMPS. They are great young Americans who are responding to the threat against our country in an organized, timely, and legal manner. Congrats to them for being who they are.

Note - SpartanMan82 has left this site to work against Trumpism. He now works for "Dump The Trumps".

SPARTANMAN-82 LEAVES FIGHT AGAINST CHUMPS TO FIGHT AGAINST TRUMPS

We are sorry to report that SpartanMan82, the “Lead Author” on this web site, has left his job here to STAND & FIGHT the neo-Nazi fascist movement that is in the process of taking over the American White House. SM82 released the following statement to explain his change of course:

"For the past several years, we on this web site have portrayed the stupid fans of the University of Michigan as our main “problem” in life. We have mocked them for their stupidity and their loose affiliation with factual information and truth. We have jeered at them for their hypocritical positions regarding their teams and players. The “chumps” we poked fun at certainly earned our criticism.

"Our major work on this web site was done during the Golden Era of Obama, those wonderful eight years during which the country settled down from a wartime economy to a more stable, slow-growth phase of incremental social and economic progress. It was easy to work on this web site when things were going so well for this country.

"But now, our nation has chosen to turn its attention back to warfare, and this time the government will be turning its guns against its own people. In that context, it’s difficult to justify the time and energy required to poke fun at people who may actually be more American than some folks who like to wear green and white.

"There is a much bigger problem, a truly dangerous enemy to all Americans, and he is putting together his political hit-squad in the White House. The Trump Administration is the most dangerous entity on the planet Earth, far more threatening than ISIS or any international terrorist group.

"Trump is contracting with the Ku Klux Klan - - - the original American Terrorist group - - - to build a culture of racism in the United States, hiring neo-Nazi representatives to be paid by tax dollars to wreak havoc across our land. Anybody who voted for him is much worse than a “chump”; they are an enemy of America.

"So I offer to stand side-by-side, shoulder-to-shoulder, with any Wolverine, alumni or fan, who will stand and fight against Trumpism. Any Spartan who voted for Trump is surely a Chump."

SpartanMan82 is now working on a web site called “Dump The Trumps”.  He retains ownership rights to all content he previously produced for this web site. He supports the Spartans, as he always has, but he recognizes that college sports rivalries are relatively childish in comparison to the massive dark threat against humanity posed by Trumpism. He urges those who still want to waste time on pointless sports rivalries to “fricking grow up and get real”.

TODAY IN chUMp HISTORY: MAY 8, 2003

Time sure flies when you're having fun. That was Michigan Basketball in the 1990s, as the Wolverines hooked-up with organized crime to fund their illegal player payments, racking up more than one-hundred wins that would later be vacated by NCAA (and FBI) actions. But the penalties were far from swift, as UM enjoyed their dual status as Winners & Cheaters for more than a decade before the crap hit the fan.

It was on this date in 2003 that the NCAA accepted the self-imposed sanctions by Michigan, and then added more penalties to the miscreant institution-gone-wild.

On May 8, 2003 the NCAA accepted Michigan's sanctions.
It also imposed an additional two years of probation and
docked the school one scholarship a year from 2004–2005
until 2007–2008. It also ordered the school to disassociate
itself from Robert Traylor, Maurice Taylor and
Louis Bullock until 2012, and Chris Webber until 2013.

Very few Michigan fans accept their team was responsible for anything bad, even to the present day. Their attitude towards historical fact looks like a child burying their tear-streamed face into a pillow screaming "nana nana boo-boo". But more than 100 games were "vacated" due to the scandal, including several tournament championships. The banners were taken down, the trophies were returned. No school would take such a self-punitive action if it were not, indeed, "guilty as sin".

Does this sound like "ancient history"? The last penalty expired only about three years ago. That was six years into the UM coaching career of John Beilein. It still hasn't been "that long" since the last effects of the Michigan Basketball corruption scandal began to diminish. Those who ignore history, as they say, may be doomed to repeat it.

We present current facts and review historical records to show that UM is not all they are cracked up to be. This process involves information that is sometimes negative by nature, offered as a counter-balance to the biased picture we all see on a regular basis in the mainstream media. These negative facts may involve Wolverine teams, players, coaches, administrators, and/or fans. We are here to prove that Michigan is NOT AS DIFFERENT as they want us all to believe.

SPARTAN FANS ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE BASKETBALL SERIES AGAINST MICHIGAN

Time to update our 10-season retrospective on the basketball series between Michigan State and Michigan. First, let's compare programs outside of the rivalry games. We look at overall season records, placement in the conference standings, and performance in the post-season. (We choose a ten-year viewpoint because our number-system operates in "base ten", not because it's a convenient time-frame to make our team look good. We are not "cherry-picking" time-frames.)

Here is a review of the past 10 seasons of men's basketball at Michigan State University and University of Michigan. The following summarizes the success of each season from 2006-2007 to 2015-2016:

MICHIGAN STATE
  • 2007:  23-12, Seventh place, NCAA Second round
  • 2008:  27-9, Fourth place, NCAA Sweet Sixteen

  • 2011:  19-15, Fourth place, NCAA First round
  • 2012:  29-8, First place, NCAA Sweet Sixteen
  • 2013:  27-9, Second place, NCAA Sweet Sixteen

MSU TEN YEAR TOTAL = 270-96 (.738)
Ten Winning Seasons, Ten NCAA Tournaments
Seven seasons with top three league finish
Three Conference Regular Season Titles

Three Sweet Sixteens
One Elite Eight
Three Final Fours

MICHIGAN
  • 2007:  22-13, Seventh place, NIT
  • 2008:  10-22, Ninth place, no post-season tournament
  • 2009:  20-13, Seventh place, NCAA Second round
  • 2010:  15-17, Seventh place, no post-season tournament
  • 2011:  20-13, Fourth place, NCAA Second round
  • 2012:  24-9, First place, NCAA First round
  • 2013:  26-7, Fourth place, NCAA Final Four
  • 2014:  28-9, First place, NCAA Elite Eight
  • 2015:  15-16*, Ninth place, no post-season tournament
  • 2016:  23-13, Eighth place, NCAA First Round

UM TEN YEAR TOTAL = 203-132 (.606)
Seven Winning Seasons, Six NCAA Tournaments
Two seasons with top three league finish
Two Conference Regular Season Titles
Zero Conference Tournament Titles
One Elite Eight
One Final Four

MSU has had three seasons with double-digit losses during the past decade, while UM has had only three seasons without double-digit losses. Overall, the Spartans lead the Wolverines in EVERY CATEGORY listed above.

Now we take a look at the last 25 games in the series. Our 25-game span covers 14 years, a time-frame that offers a good mid-range view of the series. Some would like a shorter viewpoint, so we've broken those 25 games into five sequential five-game sets. (You can get a good sense of the series by viewing it in five-game intervals.)

Here are the outcomes of the last 25 games between MSU and UM in Men's Basketball, listed in chronological order with the winner and final margin (bottom = most recent):

LAST 25 GAMES:  MICHIGAN STATE vs MICHIGAN

(1-26-03) UM by 2
(1-17-04) MSU by 17
(2-24-04) MSU by 3
(1-27-05) MSU by 11
(2-12-05) MSU by 15
  • MSU 4-1 in games
  • MSU +44 points

(1-25-06) UM by 5
(2-18-06) MSU by 19
(2-13-07) MSU by 15
(2-27-07) UM by 11
(1-27-08) MSU by 15
  • MSU 3-2 in games
  • MSU +33 points

(2-10-09) MSU by 12
(1-26-10) MSU by 1
(3-07-10) MSU by 16
(1-27-11) UM by 4
(3-05-11) UM by 7
  • MSU 3-2 in games
  • MSU +18 points

(1-17-12) UM by 1
(2-05-12) MSU by 10
(2-12-13) MSU by 23
(3-03-13) UM by 1
(1-25-14) UM by 5
  • UM 3-2 in games
  • MSU +26 points

(2-23-14) UM by 9
(3-16-14) MSU by 14
(2-01-15) MSU by 10
(2-17-15) MSU by 13
(2-06-16) MSU by 16
  • MSU 4-1 in games
  • MSU +42 points

Michigan scored a pair of three-game win streaks from 2011 through 2014, each of which included a one-point UM victory. If those one-point wins had been switched, the Wolverines would have lost eight of the last ten, rather than winning four of the last ten. That's a very small margin for arrogant boasting!

Here are a few other things we can conclude from reviewing the list of actual games played:
  • Over the last 10 games, MSU leads, 6-4 (and the Spartans have outscored the Wolverines by 68 points).
  • Over the last 15 games, MSU leads UM 9-6 (outscoring them by 86 points).
  • Over the last 20 games, MSU leads UM 12-8 (outscoring them by 119 points).
  • Over the last 25 games, MSU leads UM 16-9 (outscoring them by 163 points). The Spartans have had at least one double-digit victory during all but two calendar years since that time (2003, 2011).
  • The Wolverines have won by double-digits over the Spartans only one time since Monica Lewinsky became a household name, and that one game was nine years ago.
  • Four of the last six UM wins have been by five points or less.
  • The last seven MSU wins have been by double-digit margins.
  • 14 of the last 15 MSU wins over UM have been by double-digit margins.

It seems like ages ago when the Michigan fan-base was trumpeting their pride in a (dare I say it?) FLUKEY pair of three-game win-streaks against Michigan State in Men's Basketball. These folks reached fever-pitch when they could claim "six-out-of-the-last-nine" wins over MSU. We always respected the fact that UM won those games, but we thought it was a bit premature to start talking about John Beilein taking over the State and forcing Tom Izzo into retirement.

Each of those three-game win-streaks included a one-point victory, and all the wins were by single-digits. We couldn't help but notice that most of those six victories came with one or more Spartans injured and unavailable, usually from the starting lineup. And four of the six wins were in games played in Ann Arbor. But mathematically, there was nothing we could do to shut down their noise except wait for our team to get back on the winning track against the Wolverines.

The rivalry series is back in order!

Four straight (double-digit) wins by Michigan State
have left Michigan with no more win-streaks to shout about.

We summarized the last 25 games between the two teams (above) to see the macro-picture of the rivalry series. Now we take a micro-picture of the "streaks" by both teams over that 25-game span, covering the last 13 years. Take a look at the list below to see every streak up to 25 starting from the present day.

The last 25 games are arranged in reverse-chronological order, with the most recent game at the top. The bolded text shows what the streak is, for either team, as of TODAY. There is no longer any need to cherry-pick the number of games to be described, as all 25 are listed below. Those who wish to count up the last four, or the last 13, or the last 22, or whatever, may simply refer to this list:

  1. MSU - 1 of the last 1 (2-6-16) MSU by 16
  2. MSU - 2 of the last 2  (2-17-15) MSU by 13
  3. MSU - 3 of the last 3  (2-01-15) MSU by 10
  4. MSU - 4 of the last 4  (3-16-14) MSU by 14
  5. MSU - 4 of the last 5  (2-23-14) UM by 9
  6. MSU - 4 of the last 6  (1-25-14) UM by 5
  7. MSU - 4 of the last 7 (3-03-13) UM by 1
  8. MSU - 5 of the last 8  (2-12-13) MSU by 23
  9. MSU - 6 of the last 9  (2-05-12) MSU by 10
  10. MSU - 6 of the last 10  (1-17-12) UM by 1
  11. MSU - 6 of the last 11  (3-05-11) UM by 7
  12. Tied  - 6 of the last 12  (1-27-11) UM by 4
  13. MSU - 7 of the last 13  (3-07-10) MSU by 16
  14. MSU - 8 of the last 14  (1-26-10) MSU by 1
  15. MSU - 9 of the last 15  (2-10-09) MSU by 12
  16. MSU - 10 of the last 16  (1-27-08) MSU by 15
  17. MSU - 10 of the last 17  (2-27-07) UM by 11
  18. MSU - 11 of the last 18  (2-13-07) MSU by 15
  19. MSU - 12 of the last 19  (2-18-06) MSU by 19
  20. MSU - 12 of the last 20  (1-25-06) UM by 5
  21. MSU - 13 of the last 21  (2-12-05) MSU by 15
  22. MSU - 14 of the last 22  (1-27-05) MSU by 11
  23. MSU - 15 of the last 23  (2-24-04) MSU by 3
  24. MSU - 16 of the last 24  (1-17-04) MSU by 17
  25. MSU - 16 of the last 25  (1-26-03) UM by 2

The Wolverines have no more win-streaks in recent history! The best claim they can make is that the series is TIED over the last 12 games.

There is only one "streak" going back 25 games
in which Michigan State does not lead Michigan.

- - - Over the last 12 games, the series is tied, 6-6 - - -

The other 24 "measuring-sticks"
ALL FAVOR THE SPARTANS.

We call for an end to the prideful boasting and arrogance from Ann Arbor. Congratulations to them and their team when they win a game or two, and for bringing their program up to "par" with the rest of the conference. We don't need to laugh at them for having a down season now and then, but they really ought to shut up about their rare and narrow wins over MSU.
