WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RIVALRY NOT CLOSE BETWEEN MSU & UM

We've been focused so much on the men's basketball picture this season that we tend to overlook the Michigan State Women's Basketball team. The regular season wraps-up tomorrow, and the rivalry game against Michigan was nearly two months ago. With one game and two tournaments left to play this year, let's take a look at the last five years of the MSU-UM Women's Basketball rivalry.

The Spartans lead the overall series 63-16, winning more than 70% of the games played in Ann Arbor, and more than 80% of the games played in East Lansing. We'll review the last 10 games between the two teams, and summarize the program results over the last five seasons.

Michigan State played Michigan only once this year, a regular season matchup in Ann Arbor. The teams played three times last season, splitting home games before meeting in the conference tournament in Indianapolis. The Spartans knocked the Wolverines out of the B1G tourney in 2013.

The teams could meet again in Indy, or possibly in the Big Dance. (There is no guarantee that UM makes the NCAA tournament, while MSU has basically punched its dance card with a strong showing in February.)
