So many anniversaries this week! Thursday was the eight-year anniversary of the "Pride comes before the fall" speech by Michigan State Football Coach Mark Dantonio, an event most closely associated with Spartan Football, but a date that truly is ALL ABOUT MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. Since that famous admonition, the Wolverines have squeaked-out a single two-point win over MSU on the gridiron along with seven defeats.
Today brings another great milestone in the annals of UM sports history. This is the twelvth anniversary of the "Day of Shame", as officially proclaimed by former University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman.
Her designation of this date was to acknowledge the nefarious deeds of the UM Athletic Department in what has been fairly called "the greatest financial scandal in the history of intercollegiate athletics." The shameful deeds were perpetrated by many people in many ways over many years.

But it was on this date that the banners were removed from the rafters of Crisler Arena. A ceremony was held to mark the event. It was indeed shameful.
