Jim Harbaugh still trails the legendary BRADY HOKE in the First-Year standings. After the white-knuckling, come-from-ahead, hold-on-'till-the-end "Gift Victory" at Minnesota last weekend, Harbaugh moves to 6-2, while Hoke was 7-1 at the same point in his first season as Michigan football coach.
We're calling the UM win over the Gophers
We started tracking this spectacular showdown last week, pointing out that all Harbaugh has to do to match-up to Hoke is run the table. The Hokester beat Ohio STATE in his first year, so it's only fair to expect the Harbster to do the same, right? After all, Brady Hoke is a coach, but Jim Harbaugh is a deity. Or so we read in the sports media.
Harbaugh has a great chance to pull-even with Hoke by winning at home against Rutgers this weekend. A Michigan win would bring the Wolverines to 7-2, the same record they sported under Hokey-Pokey after nine games.
Can Harbaugh catch-up to Hoke? If winning the next game is as important to Harby as getting the last pancake at breakfast, he's got a chance.
