This is the twelvth anniversary of the "Day of Shame", as officially proclaimed by former University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman. Her designation of this date was to acknowledge the nefarious deeds of the UM Athletic Department in what has been fairly called "the greatest financial scandal in the history of intercollegiate athletics." The shameful deeds were perpetrated by many people in many ways over many years.
But it was on this date that the banners were removed from the rafters of Crisler Arena. A ceremony was held to mark the event. It was indeed shameful.

There was plenty of flamboyant behavior by those who brought on this great shame, so there was "pride before the fall" with Michigan Basketball.
