SHAMEFUL HOLIDAY FOR MICHIGAN BASKETBALL

As we look forward to national signing day in college basketball, let's start the week with a simple commemoration of a very important date in the history of University of Michigan Basketball. The date is November 7.

This is the ninth anniversary of the "Day of Shame", as officially proclaimed by UM President Mary Sue Coleman. Her designation of this date was to acknowledge the nefarious deeds of the Michigan Athletic Department in what has been fairly called the greatest financial scandal in the history of intercollegiate athletics.

It was on this date that the banners were removed from the rafters of Crisis Arena. A ceremony was held to mark the event. It was indeed shameful.

Let us all pause for a moment to recognize the vast number of unnamed folks who worked so hard to bring such great shame to Michigan Basketball. The Decade of Shame will be marked on this date in 2012.
