Have you noticed all of the Michigan fans strutting around, chins out, noses up in the air, since New Year's Day? Their team lost to Michigan State and Ohio STATE, finishing behind both teams in the standings, and consequently went to a "lesser bowl game" than either the Spartans or the Buckeyes. But since Alabama had it's Game of the Century against MSU, the chUMps are out in full force, acting like red is really their favorite color.
It's as if UM had never been whipped in a bowl game, right?
The chUMps are acting like it never happened to them.
But the pages of History are written in black-and-white, not yellow-and-blue. The REALITY is that blowouts happen once in awhile in post-season college football bowl games, as well as playoff games in all sports at all levels. So, the keep the record straight, we call your attention to a handful of recent bowl games in which the Wolverines were royally curb-stomped to end their season.
Washington 34, Michigan 14
1992 ROSE BOWL: GARY MOELLER, UM Head Coach
Washington was ranked #2 in the final AP poll
Texas A&M 44, Michigan 20
1995 ALAMO BOWL: LLOYD CARR, UM Head Coach
Texas A&M was ranked #15 in the final AP poll
Tennessee 45, Michigan 17
2002 FLORIDA CITRUS BOWL: LLOYD CARR, UM Head Coach
Tennessee was ranked #6 in the final AP poll
Mississippi State 52, Michigan 14
2011 GATOR BOWL: RICH RODRIGUEZ, UM Head Coach
Mississippi State was ranked #21 in the final AP poll
The victory margins in these bowl-game blowouts were not all 38 points, but none of these teams that pounded on Michigan won the national championship, either. Two of the winning teams did not even finish in the Top Ten, so those teams may not have been Top 20 opponents on their game-day.
The chUMps think they're better than everybody else, and they love to act like it. Please help them remember when they were on the other side of the blowout scores.
